Gretna native and NBA guard, Elfrid Payton, will host his 5th Annual Payton Fest presented by InclusivCare in an effort to support community residents on the Westbank of New Orleans. The event will feature a fun kickball tournament with celebrities, music by legendary DJ Jubilee, local food trucks, giveaways, fun games, and much more. Youth activities include inflatables, video game truck gaming experience, food and much more. In addition, the Elfrid Payton Foundation has teamed up with Boynton United Methodist Church, Councilman Rudy Smith District 1, Gretna Civic Association, and Gretna Neighborhood Walmart Store #5102 for a free school supply giveaway beginning at 11:00 a.m. while supplies last.

What is Payton Fest?

Is the event free and open to the public?
Yes. The event is open to the public, and there is no cost to enter the JB Spencer Park to view the kickball game as a spectator and for youth to participate in inflatables and video games set up at the event. The first 100 attendees will receive a free giveaway.
Where is the event being held and what time?
The event will be held at the JB Spencer Park located at 700 Governor Hall Street Gretna, LA 70053. The event starts at 10:30am and lasts until 3:00pm.
Can I sign up to play kickball on-site at the event?
No. Kickball teams are pre-registered sponsored teams.The deadline for sign-up has passed. There will be a dance-off to sign up at the event in which the winner receive a $50 gift card and an autographed Elfrid Payton basketball.
Will there be food available at the event?
There will be food trucks available with food available for purchase.
What activities can kids participate in?
Children will be able to play on the video game truck stations, inflatable obstacle course, Face-painting, watch the kickball game, enjoy music, and eat at event .
Who do I contact for questions regarding the school supply giveaway?
Boynton United Methodist Church representatives are coordinating the sign–up for the school supply giveaway. Please call at 985-262-9403 or via email at bumcgretna@gmail.com to them directly for all school supply-related questions. One backpack per student and students must be present to receive the backpack.
Where can I park?
There are few parking spaces available. Street parking will be available around the perimeter of the park but is very limited. We strongly suggest you carpool or use ride-share service. Also, do not block any of the residential driveways in the area.
If it rains, will the event be canceled?
No! We will continue the event through rain or shine. There is a sheltered area in the bleachers but we recommend you bring an umbrella or rain poncho.
How can I support the foundation’s efforts if I can’t attend?
VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE SIGN-UP
We are recruiting volunteers to serve on our planning committee as well as support as a volunteer on the day of the event. Volunteers will assist with duties such as parking, registration, giveaways, etc. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up here.
